Okay, I’m finally getting around to my last session from my Urban Portrait Madness. Kris Collins is an aspiring musician from Houston, TX and he needed some shots for his upcoming album. Kris had seen Kelsey and Kyle’s engagement session where I took photos of them on a couch in the middle of South Congress and he really wanted to do something similar. Luckily, we only got harassed by one cop..

After SoCo, we headed to this little field off South 1st I’d been wanting to shoot at for awhile. Kris wanted a sort of hippie vibe to his photos so hopefully these make the cut.

Okay, so the power blogging continues. I met Amanda via Facebook before I met her in person. I believe it was her sister who showed her my site and Amanda booked a mini session with me when I posted the Portrait Madness promo.

I got to actually meet Amanda when she and her roommates threw a benefit concert for Living Water and their house. David was playing at it so I tagged along and got to meet sweet Amanda. She’s super chill and has a very beautiful, natural look. And despite the fact she had her session during the hotter portion of the day, she looks amazing!

I first met Hannah when she was a freshman at McCallum and I was wandering the halls, trying to be a good Young Life leader. I was blessed to meet Hannah and her wonderful group of friends, many of whom you have seen on this blog.

I came over to Hannah’s house to photograph her in her amazing backyard which backs up to Bull Creek. Her dad collects antique books which I happened to notice on the shelves and I just HAD to use them… And I think it looks pretty sweet, personally. Plus, Hannah has gorgeous eyes and a beautiful smile so she made the pictures for sure.

Good luck choosing between all of the amazing universities that accepted you. My vote is you either stay at UT so I can hang out with you or go to USC so I have somewhere awesome to visit.

This is very, VERY important. I need you go to the following link and download some epic music from here.

I’m no music critic but if I MUST give you a reason… here are a few. I’m not asking you to do this because the musician who penned these tunes happens to be the love of my life. Nope.. that’s actually not why. Okay.. maybe a little. But really and truly, I have been listening to David Ramirez’s music on a consistent basis since before he and I were really even friends. So I can say, with an unbiased confidence, that his music has evolved into something that is both relatable and magical, honest yet mysterious, and both lyrically and musically driven. It’s folk but by no means is it a simple acoustic album.

An incredible team of Nashville musicians recorded with David and an amazing producer helped “American Soil” become exactly what it should. The first time David showed me some of the rough recordings, I was blown away by the depth and creativity that ebbed and flowed throughout.

This is the album of the year for me and I can assure you, I’ve had to listen to it non-stop since the project began. There are layers upon layers of absolute magic that call for you to drive across the country, or at least around your town while the sun sets and your windows are down.

This album is not only for driving but for living. I hope you take the time to visit the link and download the songs to get a feel for the upcoming album, which will be released in June.

Cheers.

This past weekend was crazy busy.. one of my long time friends Kelsey got married and I had the privilege of being a bridesmaid! It was an amazing weekend but was absolutely packed. AKA my attempt to catch up on all my shoots has to be even quicker now!

Here’s Ashley, the second person to partake in my Portrait Madness. Ashley was super sweet and had the best laugh. She just got her ring from A&M and wanted some photos showcasing it. It was tough, as I’m a Longhorn at heart, but I managed to take some photos of her pride and joy. :)

Ashley came down with Priscilla and they truly were a blast to shoot. Look out for a bonus friend shoot after I catch up on everything else!

Introducing Priscilla: the first person ever to take part in my my Urban Portrait Madness.

For those of you who have zero clue what I’m talking about.. back in the beginning of April, I decided to try something new. I posted a blog that offered portrait sessions at a lower cost. The deal was you pay $50 and you get a shorter session and 20-30 edited photos, without the online gallery. So it works for both parties b/c they don’t have to drop much cash and I don’t have to post-process 200+ photos.

It was a huge success b/c within 20 minutes, Priscilla had booked her AND her roommate Ashley two sessions. And the other three sessions were booked within days. This is definitely something I’ll be doing about once a month, especially during my slower months so keep an eye out!

Anyway, without further ado.. here are Priscilla’s photos:

When I walked into Addie’s house to shoot her senior portraits, I was blown away by how cool the house looked! Her dad’s an artist and he had some amazing pieces hung around the house so I just had to photograph her inside. Addie was also wearing this awesome yellow dress that had this very retro vibe so I just felt like I when it came time to edit, I wanted to go with a 60’s vibe. I think they’re pretty groovy and I hope you do too.

Meet Rachel. She’s pretty great. I shot her and her husby’s wedding in December. It was actually my first wedding to shoot all alone so of course I didn’t fully comprehend what I was taking on. AKA I took forever to post-process. Thus, I promised Rachel a free portrait session to make up for it and thank her for taking a gamble by letting me photograph her wedding. Fast forward and here’s part one of her portrait session!

As you’ll see, she’s gorgggggg so I had a great time shooting her. I tried a few new things with editing so tell me what you think. Enjoy.

This post is a bit more personal than normal so get pumped! Or don’t, whatevs! :)

On May 11, Bryton Makrae Patronella came into the world with a full head of hair and the cutest little face I’ve ever seen. His parents happen to be very close friends of mine- Clint and Andea- and I’m super super excited they’re parents!

Unfortunately since I live in Austin and they live in Dallas, I couldn’t be there on the big day but David and I HAD to see the little guy ASAP so we drove up to Dallas last Wednesday.

Wow. What an amazing experience to see your friends holding a little human being they’ve created together. It’s seriously insane and such a beautiful picture of God. I absolutely loved it. I know they’re going to be incredible parents.

I got super giddy when Andea started calling us Uncle David and Aunt Paige!! Haha.. I know, I’m so lame but I just got so excited about watching Bryton grow up before my very eyes. It’s going to be incredible experience for everyone, I know.

Anyway, of course I took pictures. Bryton needs to get used to it so I figured I should start early.

Last Friday I had a senior portrait session with Christine and it was suuuuuper chill. This lovely little lady was absolutely precious and had the best smile.

She even braved the insane winds and getting checked out by every passerby on the highway. :)

Take a look.
