Hello friends!

I’m looking for someone fabulous to become a regular assistant and/or second shooter for Paige Newton Photography. I’ll need assistants at some portrait sessions (engagements, bands, senior portraits, families, personal projects, etc.) as well as a second shooter and/or assistant for weddings.

These needs can be filled by multiple people. I’m just looking to create a regular and consistent list of amazing and dependable people to have on hand for various jobs. I’m super chill and I want to work with people who are laid back as well but who also work hard and who LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY.

Please don’t contact me if you’re uptight, rude, snobby, a pain in the ass, or have a history of bailing on people last minute. :) I’d prefer to work with a student or young adult as my photography is geared toward people who are young and energetic. Your personal style also might be a factor- I’ve got a definite vision to my photography and I want to work with someone who shares it or at least understands it. We can discuss this more after you contact me.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SECOND SHOOTERS:
-Basic knowledge of camera (ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed, etc)
-Own your own SLR body & lenses (or have access to equipment)
-Have some experience second shooting at weddings
-Flexible schedule (I’ll tell you dates well in advance)
-Hard worker & good with direction

SECOND SHOOTER APPLICANTS:
-Please check out my website to see if we have somewhat similar styles- I usually shoot with a vintage yet modern style (www.paigenewtonphotography.com).
-Shoot me an email with a link to your portfolio, contact info, resume, list of equipment, and minimum pay

ASSISTANT REQUIREMENTS:
-Ability to carry a bunch of crap without dropping it. :)
-Flexible schedule
-Hard worker & good with direction

ASSISTANT APPLICANTS:
-Shoot me an email with your resume and any assistant experience you can tell me about

COMPENSATION:
Pay depends on the job (wedding vs. portrait session, second shooter vs. assistant) as well as your experience. I also can offer internship credit to photography students.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers,

Paige

June 24th, 2009

Whew. I’m still tired from this weekend. On Sunday, I participated in the June 2009 Austin Wedding Guide Bridal Extravaganza. It was a longggg day but I think it turned out well! I booked one wedding, which apparently is good for the day of and I had a ton of interested brides. So we’ll see if it leads to some more bookings.

I just wanted to share some photos of my booth because I thought it was cute.. no flat screens or fancy displays like the most of the other booths.. but I felt it was very representative of my style so I guess I weeded out all the Bridezillas who want fancy photographers… ha.

Excuse the quality. These are from my point and shoot which it always getting dropped like it’s hot and David’s iPhone.

Mannnn have I been swamped. Not that I’m complaining (okay, maybe a little..) but I’ve never had such a long to do list. I’m finally finishing up all my seniors for 2009 and I’m starting to prepare for the Austin Wedding Guide Bridal Extravaganza on June 21. If you’re a bride and you need to check out some vendors, you should check it out! I’m having a booth there so I have a ton of things I need to do to get ready for that.

In between all the chaos, I forgot to blog about something that was pretty exciting for me.. My business cards came in! I used Moo.com to get these sweet little babies that also happen to be 100% recycled and recyclable. Check ‘em out and let me know what you think. You might even see your face on one.

So as some of you might have seen, I posted a blog about a promo I’m running in the middle of May for some cheaper portrait sessions.

Within 20 minutes of posting it, I had 3 out of 5 sessions booked! Woohoo! And I just booked my final session today! So while it’s sad news for you it’s good news for me.

A big thanks to the four girls and one guy who booked portraits in my first trial run of Urban Portrait Madness! Check back after May 14 for photos from their sessions.

If all goes well, I’ll be doing these promos about once a month in various locations.. I’m thinking June’s will be “Field Portrait Madness.” What can I say.. I have a thing for fields..

Thanks again for the positive response!

So I’m looking ahead at my calendar and I want to make sure I don’t get bored in May. So I’m running a sweet sale for some shorter portrait sessions for less money! Book your session while there’s still availability!

How do I book a session?

Email me at paige@paigenewtonphotography.com or leave a comment w/ your name, number, email, and the date and time you prefer.

Where can my location be?

Anywhere in downtown Austin. I only have 30 minutes between shoots so I need to be able to get to where I’m going on time. Your location can be South Congress, South Lamar, South 1st, Warehouse District, etc. We can walk around within the areas as much as you want within that hour.

What do you mean by unlimited looks?

You can change your clothes as many times as you want. Just remember you only have a hour!

What all do I get for my $50?

Your hour session and a 20-30 edited high-res files to print, share, tag, and do anything you want with.. but you can’t sell ‘em! :)

When do I pay you?

You must pay the entire $50 (cash or check) when you show up for your session. Please do not bail on me. It would not be cool.

January 30th, 2009

I know it’s been slacker central around here with my blog posts. Sorry friends. But it’s because I’ve been working hard on my….

drum roll………….

WEB SITE!!!!!!

That’s right.. paigenewtonphotography.com is on its way! It should go live early next week. :)

And over the next few days I’ll be catching up on some of the blogs that should have been up already.

Hope you’re all enjoying 2009.

December 25th, 2008

I feel like it’s been forever since I blogged on here.. I’ve been so busy with nannying and my boyfriend moving to Austin (yay!!) that I haven’t had much time to post anything on here. SORRRRRRRRY. :)

But I just wanted to express what an exciting semester this has been for me. When I first decided to try and make my love for photography into an actual job, I wasn’t sure how well it would take off. But I’m proud to say that since my very first shoot w/ Ms. Sara Stites at the beginning of October, I have had at least one shoot EVERY week since then! Come 2009, I’m bumping my prices up a bit and I’ll really start kicking things into high gear.
I really appreciate all the support, advice, encouragement, and positive feedback I’ve received from friends, family, and strangers.. I particularly appreciate the support of my good friend Ben, my boyfriend David, and my parents. Thanks guys. :)

Some things to look out for…
my new website!!!!
some non-commercial photography series
a photography book
more photographs (of course)

Also.. good news.. For Christmas I got a new lens (24-70mm f/2.8L), a new flash, a gear bag, and some other accessories from my parents. Epic. :)

Anyway.. Merry Christmas everyone!!
