I didn’t meet Kristin and Patrick until a few days before their wedding. David Ramirez had gone on tour and met them in Michigan last fall and showed them my photography. Kristin soon after had a dream that Patrick and she eloped to Austin (where they had never been) and that David sang at their ceremony and I photographed it. She proposed the idea to me and I fell in love with the idea. I actually got to help plan quite a bit of the wedding with Kristin which made it all the more exciting to photograph it. I suggested they get married at my favorite boutique hotel, Hotel Saint Cecilia. I even got to decorate a little bit. Kristin and Patrick- you were SUCH a joy to meet and photograph. I hope you love the photos as much as I do.

A few days before the ceremony, Kristin asked if I wanted to style it. So I grabbed a few things from my house and the thrift store, bought some flowers, and got to add some details. It was pretty exciting. :)

Hello friends!

I’m looking for someone fabulous to become a regular assistant and/or second shooter for Paige Newton Photography. I’ll need assistants at some portrait sessions (engagements, bands, senior portraits, families, personal projects, etc.) as well as a second shooter and/or assistant for weddings.

These needs can be filled by multiple people. I’m just looking to create a regular and consistent list of amazing and dependable people to have on hand for various jobs. I’m super chill and I want to work with people who are laid back as well but who also work hard and who LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY.

Please don’t contact me if you’re uptight, rude, snobby, a pain in the ass, or have a history of bailing on people last minute. :) I’d prefer to work with a student or young adult as my photography is geared toward people who are young and energetic. Your personal style also might be a factor- I’ve got a definite vision to my photography and I want to work with someone who shares it or at least understands it. We can discuss this more after you contact me.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SECOND SHOOTERS:
-Basic knowledge of camera (ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed, etc)
-Own your own SLR body & lenses (or have access to equipment)
-Have some experience second shooting at weddings
-Flexible schedule (I’ll tell you dates well in advance)
-Hard worker & good with direction

SECOND SHOOTER APPLICANTS:
-Please check out my website to see if we have somewhat similar styles- I usually shoot with a vintage yet modern style (www.paigenewtonphotography.com).
-Shoot me an email with a link to your portfolio, contact info, resume, list of equipment, and minimum pay

ASSISTANT REQUIREMENTS:
-Ability to carry a bunch of crap without dropping it. :)
-Flexible schedule
-Hard worker & good with direction

ASSISTANT APPLICANTS:
-Shoot me an email with your resume and any assistant experience you can tell me about

COMPENSATION:
Pay depends on the job (wedding vs. portrait session, second shooter vs. assistant) as well as your experience. I also can offer internship credit to photography students.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers,

Paige

First of all.. If you haven’t seen Rachel & Andrew’s One Year Later post, check it out here.

Lately I’ve been wanting to start doing some styled mock wedding shoots just to switch things up a bit. “Wedding Faux-tography” if you will (thanks to David for coining that term). I haven’t been able to coordinate schedules with any local wedding coordinators or florists yet so I decided to go for it all by myself with the help of my lovely friend Sarah. Thanks love!

I tried to keep it simple, as this is something I’ve never done before. Surprisingly, I’m really pleased with the result. BUT.. if are a wedding coordinator/florist/stylist and would like to work with me on one of these in the future, I’m aiming to do one each month. So give me a shout!

Without further ado, here’s my first Wedding Faux-tography session! I really hope you enjoy and I would REALLY, REALLY LOOOOOVE for you to LEAVE ME A COMMENT! :)

We have a ridiculous amount of empty wine bottles at our house so that was the starting point for my vision.

RAfauxweddingblog006

I knew I wanted to hang jars from the branches and put candles and flowers in them. I LOVE the way it looks! I also added little definitions on a few of the jars, like the wine bottles.

Sarah supplied the table and added some nice touches like this bird and the feathers.

When Sarah told me she and Andy were spending their first night as husband and wife at Hotel St. Cecilia , I begged her to let me come photograph them. Lucky me, they agreed and so I got to go over the next afternoon. They were in Suite 4 which is EPIC.. as you’ll see..

Introducing, my first wedding of 2010! I’ve known Ally since our freshman year of college when we were in a bible study together. I got to shoot Ally and Julian (also known as Lubbock) for their engagement session last summer and I couldn’t wait for their wedding to finally come.

Ally and Lubbock were married at Starhill Ranch, which I LOVE. It was super cold out but the weather was gorgeous. I can’t wait to share all the details from the day but for now I’m going to show you some portraits. Stay tuned for the wedding day post.

This has been a LONG time coming. My blog decided to go down right when I was ready to post the photos from this incredible wedding. Currently, you’re looking at a TEMPORARY blog design which will hopefully soon be resolved. Cross your fingers for me.

More importantly.. I AM SO EXCITED TO POST THESE!!! Sarah and Andy are absolutely one of the most incredibly couples (and individuals) I have ever met. I’ve known Sarah since my freshman year of college and she’s always held a special place in my heart. She’s an absolute gem. I met Andy at their engagement session and was immediately won over by his genuine spirit and love for Sarah and the people around him. Their wedding was an absolute joy to photograph. I could go on and on about these two but I’ll shut up and just post the photos!

Since Latané and Broun’s wedding day didn’t allow for many portraits of the bride and groom, Lat scheduled a session with me for a few weeks after their big day.

I was super excited to get to go back to the venue and take my time photographing these two fabulous people… Of course, stuff happens, and we ended up only have thirty minutes to shoot. But we made it work. I’m pretty excited with the way these turned out. The Texas light was wonderful, as always, and no rain this time!

I split the session into two parts because there’s two very different vibes going on. This is part two! Go here to see the first part.
